Culture of vultures

All this news of gagging orders,
Rich get rich, poor getting poorer
Daily Mail tells us control the borders.
Innocence being lost, such a dirty aura.
Price of living, the cost of fame,
One man’s infidelity, another man’s gain.

Kid’s aspire to be rich and famous.
Ugliness lives, it’s becoming dangerous.
Natural beauty, passion and flair,
But no thanks not with your frizzy hair!
What’s going on in the world today?
Children have forgotten how to play!

Colour of money, price of success,
How much will you pay to watch her undress.
Women being blamed for getting raped and abused.
Ladies dress for themselves not to keep men amused.
New age man, the answer to feminism?
Seems to have led to confusion and masochism

Aspiring to be have what you may never attain
It is always in someone else’s interest or gain.
When will we learn to coexist and calm our greed?
Only then can we help ourselves and others in need!
Our society today won’t invest in culture.
Individuals or sheep most akin to the vulture.

Reasons to be cheerful

When you live in constant pain finding happy thoughts can be such a challenge but it's always worth it. You get to reap the rewards of your endeavor. I have been accused of having a Pollyanna approach to life and wearing rose tinted glasses. I find it alarming that being positive is seen as a bad thing. In January 2001, I had an operation that left me in constant pain, I no longer get more than 3 hours sleep a night and life can be challenging.

I choose positivity and keep choosing it again and again. That's what gets me through the tough times of which there are many. Personally, nature gives me juice and feeds my soul. Flowers, art and animals give me joy amidst the madness of my daily life. Nurturing a plant from seed to stunning bloom is a real tonic and watching my pet's antics really does make me Laugh Out Loud!!

When on the rare ; ) occasions I lose my temper, I get in my car and drive to a nearby field of horses and just watching them lifts me. What lifts us is an individual process but find if you can find your personal battery charger, it's a gift to yourself. It is also a double whammy as it's the gift that keeps on giving. The more we learn about ourselves and how to make 'us' happy, the more we can have and share.

Focusing on reasons to be cheerful doesn't mean you're naive but it can help you smile and laugh more often. In our word there are so many awful atrocities happening but it's worth remembering that feeling depressed about it won't help. If you can help then act. But if all you can do is smile then do it!
